At 65 mph on the highway with top down & no AC, my M got 30 mpg. At 3000 rpm (about 78 mph in 6th gear) with the top up and AC on, I got about 27 mpg on level ground and 25 mpg in hilly terrain. In stop-n-go traffic, I was getting 20 mpg.

Been AVERAGING 30.1 mpg over the last 6,250 miles in my 3.0 (with new plugs) since I took my car out of storage in mid-April. I've had 2 ~400 mile highway trips and 85% of my drive to/from work is highway, but I'm fairly heavy on the pedal.
My modified Yamaha R1 gets 38 mpg average and the Mercedes CLS63 is at about 17.5mpg

On about a 25/75 mix of highway and city driving, I normally show around 8.4 liters per 100km. For imperial gallons, that's around 34 MPG. For US gallons, that's around 28 MPG. I only run premium fuel.
That's in a 3.0si roadster. I accelerate at a relatively brisk rate, but with the torque this engine has I do usually shift fairly low (3500 RPM or so) unless I have a need to wind it out. No complaints on fuel mileage for me - I'm very happy with this kind of power and economy of operation. |

I do frequent +130-mile drives from Seattle to Vancouver, Canada, and usually get 27mpg in my Z4MC going about 3~5mph above the speed limit. In the winter, it still gets about 25.5~26 mpg.
My old Z4M-roadster used to get 29mpg doing the same Vancouver-Seattle trips. I'm not sure how it did it. I had the same wheels, suspensions, etc, and it wasn't that much lighter than my Z4MC. I could never reach 29mpg in my M-coupe. My '03 2.5i got about 30mpg. My '04 3.0i got about 33mpg.
