Aftermarket PDC
Here is a short story of my latest mod.
I bought this Cobra set from thurgo.co.uk. I painted them to match the cars paint. I jacked up the car. Remove rivets, 3 each side. And then 5 nuts from the bottom. Disconnect licence plate lights. Bumper removed. Dirty exhaust pipes. Good chance to clean them. You will find marks behind the bumper. My little DeWALT is handy. Drill from inside bumper with 3mm. I used a 3mm and then 17mm drills bits. Then 17mm from outside. Here is what it should look. Attach wiring etc. Put everything back in reverse order. Done! Here is link for bigger picture. Excellent post, this is one mod I've been interested in.
How does it work? is it just that you install the box in the cabin and it beeps when it's close to things? Any pics of that part of the installation?

No pics for the installation, its very simple. Just plug all wires to main unit and then take +12V from reversing light. |

Can you extend the wires for two sensors and run them to the front? Then you can know your about to curb your splitter lol, and still know about things behind you.

Even if you can extend the wires, the sensors won't get activated unless you have it in reverse...and when do you drive your splitter into the curb when you're in reverse

Maybe a front mounted camera so you can see if you're gonna hit the curb would be a better solution.

PDC
In 2007, I researched the PDC ready to go using BMW set up and sensors. Part guy said sensors don't last.
I decided to do a BMW camera set up front and back with aftermarket cameras. BMW wouldn't let you purchase the cameras. I like the cameras because I can see the curbs front and back. I have it height in the right place to show front and back from one foot from the curb. Cameras shows what I did in Bimmerfest: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=194687 You can get thirteen sheets of PDC installation instructions from a BMW EPA disc. Last one ended 09/2003. Maybe you can get it from BMW. If interested, I have three EPA of them new and not copied. $25. shipped USA. . . . . Last edited by Ron Stygar; 03-21-2012 at 10:56 PM.. |

Hey, that's a monster drain cover in your garage, kinkkujuusto. I'd want to make sure I never left the top of that off!
