Z4M trunk

Hey guys, I tried searching but couldn't find the answer to this.

What is the hump in the Z4M trunk that makes it so much smaller than the non-M trunks?

Holy crap it's huge...so the non M Z4s have the battery under the hood? I wonder how that affects the weight balance..I guess the M motor weighs more but the battery must weigh quite a bit.

I think in non-M's the battery is at pretty much the same place just 10-12 inches below. Because M's have exhaust cans on both sides there wasnt anywhere else to put it.

The weight distribution of the Z4 M Coupe is almost balanced at 50.2/49.8 % (Front/Rear).
The Roaster is at 49.3/51.7 % (front/rear)

Actually, on the non M's, the battery is at the very rear part of the trunk, right below the removable panel. Like all other BMW's, it is most definitely NOT under the hood.

So 2 bags of golf clubs can fit in the trunk of the Z4 (with the drivers out), but not in the M?...interesting.

Even more off topic - my old 5 series actually came with a diagram in the trunk to illustrate how to fit 5 golf bags...lol.

Dumb question, but does everyone elses car have a cavity at the rear of the trunk (i.e. at the rear of the car)? It just seems like either a small panel or something is missing there on my M.

Nope, my MCoupe's trunk floor has no panel or hatch. The battery, as has been pointed out, is in the trunk, not below it. You're fine.

I think he is talking about the small space there the emergency triangle could go (just smaller than a 3D Maglight). Yes, that is normal.

I get two carry bags in the M with the 40" + clubs on top... Clubs, bags, shoes; naked lady tees...
