Not much to add here since folks have covered it. As far as the PPI, I'm not sure if you're planning on doing that yourself or having an indie shop do it. I'd highly recommend an indie shop take a look at it (but that may what you have in mind). Other than that, enjoy!

Thanks for all the replies. The mechanic I'll get to check the car is a long time friend of my family so I'm sure he'll do a good job.
It seems like the z4 is pretty forgiving on noobs like myself with CDV and hill assist. Last time I tried to go upgill in my beater corolla I completely freaked out cuz it kept rolling back and I can't get it to go forward. That was quite an experience. What about the vanos bolt falling out? I read here that it's an issue for 06s. Is that common or did it just happened to a unlucky few? |

^well, i have an 06 and do not have any issues with the vanos bolts. hopefully, it stays tt way. am running up to inspection I in 3000 miles so i'll have a much clearer picture then.

Vanos bolts are not part of the inspection - in fact you can't even check them during the valve adjustment work.

You can. There's a DIY floating around out there. It involves trying to push/pull on the gears. You can't physically check each bolt, but you can tell if they are coming loose.
