Vehicle Emmision Testing
I've owned this car for just a few months, and today received notification of my first Maryland Vehicle Emissions Inspection Notice for it.
These E85 & E86 cars are old enough that emissions may be an issue. Thought I'd reach out to see what you guys have experienced, Pass or Fail, during the past several years. I'd guess vehicle mileage to be the biggest variable regarding engine health, and I'm at 65,000+. And the title should read Emission, with just one m! David

The check here in CA is only an OBDII check - I passed no problem at 75K miles with aftermarket mufflers. I did need to remove my aftermarket intake to pass visual inspection (likely would have passed if the tech did not own an E46 M3...)

MD does an OBDII test on vehicles 1996 and newer. So as long as you don't have a check engine light on, you should pass. Personally, I use the self service kiosk where you DIY the emission, plus it cost $4 less. There should be one near you. http://www.mva.maryland.gov/locations/

I was at the MVA today for registration of my Z, and I walked within 10' of an emissions kiosk while headed into the main building. I had no idea what the kiosk was for until I read your post! Dang, thanks a lot! That's so convenient. David

I bet you have it taken care of now, but this is the guy I go to in the city. He owns an FD, which is about the best indication I can think of for a smog guy lol |

Yesterday I drove to our local Motor Vehicle Administration facility that has 1 emission kiosk in the parking lot. The testing process was simple and my car passed.
