Stick on wheel weights?

How do you keep your tire and wheel assembly balanced at the track? I'm considering ugly clip on weights as my stick on weights just fall off once the wheels get hot.

I use aluminum tape over the stick on weights and haven't had any issues.

SHould be covered with metal tape regardless. Not only insures that they stay but also for aesthetics.

+1 for the metal tape available at Home Depot et al.

I have heard of higher temp rated weights but have never used them.

Anyone ever try the Ceramic balls? http://www.innovativebalancing.com/

I am thinking of trying them on my off-road toy.

You add a predetermined amount of balls that weigh X amount of grams based on tire size. Then the balls roll around in the tire and self balance. Just wondering is anyone had experience with them.

I've tried them in the tires in my Tacoma pickup. The theory that they distribute themselves to balance the tire is true, BUT every time you stop they fall to the lowest point and have to redistribute themselves again. Out on the highway they're great, but around town every time you stop and start you transition through a very out of balance condition until they redistribute themselves again. If you had a vehicle that spent most of it's life on the interstate they'd be worth it but if you have a mix they're a PITA.
When you decide you're tired of them you have to demount the tire to get them all back out again. I told the guy that did mine they were in there and until he popped the bead on the first tire and they rolled out all over the shop I don't think he grasped the concept........ or the quantity.

The Tacoma tires are 275/75 x 16 and the recommended amount of Dynabeads is 6 ounces.

Interesting information, thanks. I work in the trucking industry and have heard of people using them, from your write up it makes sense why some have tried them (although very few).

Thank you! I have been looking at these for a while and I could not find anything other than what the manufacturers have on their websites. The city/highway comparison is what I needed.
