Coding/Tuning Out DMTL w/ Tune
This may be a rather silly question but I'm contemplating working through a TTFS tune to work around a bad O2 sensor and a headers upgrade. I was wondering if with tunes on our cars if it was possible to code the car to not check the Diagnostic Module Tank Leakage pump. Mine has a couple bad reports and it's preventing me from getting an inspection. I will likely replace it in the near future, just wondering if I can cut some corners for the inspection to make it more affordable now and pick up some CPI headers along the way.
Thanks in advance guys. |

Cant answer your question BUT, changing O2 sensors is not that complicated. I would spend some time and get those replaced. Also you dont have to buy directly from BMW. Our sensors are rebranded Bosch sensors and can be found on Amazon or other retailers for a fraction of what BMW charges.

I'm starting to look into them more, I was hoping that would have been my cost savings in upgrading to headers. It seems that for emissions here you can have one failure and I recently just hit both. I'll probably replace the O2's but I'm still curious about the DTML.
Thanks for the advice Schmoupe I found them on a few websites around 100 bones a piece, about 50% of the cost from BMW. |

Yea, thanks for the tip Schmoupe.
I'm at just about 120 k miles, so I've been wanting to buy a set to keep handy, but balked at $200 each.

I don't know if I'll replace all four, but I'll definitely replace the pre-cats as one went bad. Maybe I'll get to the others. I fear I'm going to have to hold off on the headers until a little later.
Thanks again Schmoupe this is seriously helpful. |
