AC Schnitzer Exhuast

I recently purchased an AC Schnitzer exhaust and I have to say it sounds awesome. Exactly what I was looking for. Pretty quiet when just strolling don the street but once I step on that gas, coupled with my AFE Intake, it just roars.

The problem I have is that it just doesn't fit. One, it is too low and the tip is out too far.

Does anyone have any experience with this exhaust? Would it work if I just cut off the tips which curve downward and out and replace it with one that is just straight? Trying to do minimal work on it for the exhaust to work right. Or will I have to mess around with the hangers and cut the tips. Thanks in advance.

If the length of the tip is off, it may be your bumper is off.
I don't know the detail on the 3.0si bumper but there should be some screws that you can loosen and make an adjustment.

The height you can definitely adjust at the flange.

I see you have a post facelift car, you probably have an earlier exhaust made for a pre-facelift car. When the facelift cars first came out, this was a common problem with several manufacturers. Although the pre/post cars are very similar, there are some dimensional differences in the exhaust system. Based on what others had to do, you'll have to have it fitted by a competent muffler shop to correct the height and placement. IIRC the tip will still still out to far, it was designed for the ACS version of the bumper.

Albeit mine is an M, I was able to adjust the tips in and out by the way they were designed. If so on yours, this will be shown on the ACS instructions. As for the vertical adjustment, I used DKF hangars, which are covered on this forum pretty well. Not sure, though, if they make a version for the 3.0Si.

I brought it to a garage where my brother used to work. The guys there do all the work on my other cars. I hope they get this exhaust system right. If the chrome tip sticks out too far, I can have them chop off a bit of it off. I'll post some pics soon.

Here's how my exhaust finally came out. Do you guys think it sticks out too much?

Tips seem to sit low to me, to much gap above. How far do they stick out? Looks good to me.

Looking at the ass thread, it does look like the tips hang too low compared to others. In terms of sticking out, from above it doesn't look too bad but from the driver side view, it looks like it sticks out too much. I may have my mechanic work on it.

Looks like it sticks out too much. Here's the pic:

The single/solid tip design doesn't follow the body contour like the staggered tips do. Setting it further back should help some. On a different topic, your car sure looks good. The AW color with the 108 wheels is hot!

You've hit the nail on the head. It definitely looks like it sticks out more from the driver side boew because of the non-staggered tips. I think I will just buy DKF hangers and new staggered tips that can sit back further. Any advice as to where I can get se nice chrome tips?

You have an internet full of choices as well as your local muffler shops. Can you replace the single ACS tip with duals?

ACS tip is already double. Time to look for some nice tips. Too bad these aren't working out. The AC Schnitzer chrome tips look well built and sturdy.

I did not express myself very well. Is your current tip a single body surrounding two individual tubes?

Yes. There are two tips surrounded by one chrome tube.

Well, I brought it to another shop and they weren't able to raise the exhaust system anymore. The best they could do was cut off a bit of the tip so it was a bit shorter and wouldn't stick out as much. :-(

You have to remember to that the ACS was a SYSTEM of parts. Not really designed to be used individually so much.
ACS utilized a exhaust trim surround to dial in the final fitment.

Really they couldn't get it any higher?? I'm not familiar with the non-M exhaust but on my last two BMWs I loosened up the exhaust bolts, put a jack stand with a piece of wood under the muffler to raise it up where I wanted the tips to sit. Then tighten up all the exhaust bolts. When you remove the jack, the tips will stay almost exactly where you want it.

According to the guy at the shop, the muffler was as high as it would go already. So they just trimmed part of the exhaust tip so it would go in further. It doesn't look as bad as before but not perfect. Do you have an AC Schnitzer exhaust that you got to fit perfectly?
