window streaks HELPPP

Hi everyone,

SO basically whenever i open/close my windows, often there are streak marks (lines) left. My dealer says they cant do anything which sounds like total BS to me. Any thoughts?

They also once said they cleaned the rollers which clearly didnt help.

+1. The streaks clean pretty easily. I chose to leave it alone since the windows are pretty air tight. I don't want to take the chance on getting wind noise during a re-adjustment.

I have exactly the same problem. Just get the car cleaned more often, that's been my approach.

Make sure you use window cleaner formualted for car glass and Griot's glass cleaning cloths are a must for truly clean glass. You can also clay your glass periodically (outside) to get rid of deposits you can't see.

Zaino makes an excellent glass polish as well, helping to keep the glass smooth alleviates the collection of oils and dust that can cause the streaks. You may also need to clean the flock with some alcohol.

What I do and it helps is to take a popcicle stick or the like and put you window cleaner on a micro fiber towel covering the stick on both sides, with the window down run the cloth between the rubber pieces that would be on both sides of the glass and clean the felt. It will take several passes to get it clean. Make sure to change areas of the towel and keep the cleaner on the towel. You only need to clean about 1/2 inch down to get the area that causes the issue. The more you clean from this area the less streaks you wll have.

I'm with MVF4Rrider on this one. If the dealer adjusted the window then I'm sure that would just cause a whole bunch of other problems. I've learned my lesson in my 5er, if everything is "working" (maybe not perfectly, but still working) then DON'T MESS WITH IT. I've had so many problems where I take my car in for one thing and something else happens related to the dealer's "fix" to the problem....mainly on my 5er though.

+1 to this approach. Also if you want to clean the glass, the clay bar that we use to clean paint also does a wonderful job on the glass. Use it the same way as you do the paint. Keep the lube out/off the rubber pieces.
