Wind Noise Goes Away With Windows Slightly Up

Anyone else notice this? When I drive at speed with top down and windows down all the way, there is a low rumble I can hear over my left shoulder. If I bring the windows up just a couple of inches the noise goes away. Wondering if it's a result of the "cavities" on either side of the top when it's down.

FWIW...
When I use the side (cavity) covers, I don't notice any difference.

Define 'low rumble'..it could be just the air surrounding you and you're not used to it..

YES! I have this same issue and it's driving me crazy! The cavity covers don't help either. Raising the windows does eliminate it.

I didn't have this issue in my '04 3.0, just in my new '07 ///M( which by the way is identcal to yours TopDown). I just returned home from an 1800 mile, 5 day trip and I promised myself today that first thing tomorrow, I'm going to find the source of this noise and fix it.

In a previous Z3 Roadster I could drive with windows fully lowered and get nothing but usual wind noiose. In M Roadster with the windows fully lowered, there is a noticeable low frequency rumbling noise on top of the usual wind noise. Raising the windows slightly makes the low frequency rumble go away - and then just the usual wind noise remains.
