carbon filter removal
Is there a certain way to take out the carbon filter on the top of our stock airbox? That sucker seems like it's stuck in there pretty tight. Thanks.

Just pulls right out, no tools required.

Also, does anyone make a non-oiled performance filter for the 06+ z4's? I saw one made by afe for the ///m. I just don't want to have to deal with the oil and take the chance of gunking up the maf sensor.

You might want to hit the weights -- you seem from your posts, perhaps, not strong enough to man-handle this car like it needs (and wants).

The BMC filter is the best flat panel filter you can buy.

Go to www.bmcairfilters.com and do a search. You want the flat panel number 132/01 or the CDASP-03. Cheers

Unfortunately the intake boxes on the 06+ aren't rectangular and have a unique shape to them. The filters on their website are for the 02-05's, but thanks for looking into it.
It does however look like they have their cai installed on an 06+. I think the give away in the pic is the silver kidney grilles, but i could be wrong. Quote:

When you remove that filter, MAKE SURE YOU DONT LEAVE ANY OF THOSE CLIPS LOOSE IN THERE. Mine was stuck in there really tight too. Get the K&N replacement filter.

Thanks. I don't believe i did but i'll definitely check. Better to be safe than sorry.
Are you using the K&N? I hear a lot of negative comments about their stuff. I used to have an m3 and their 57 cai used to make my car hesitate and stall when i put it in neutral after hard acceleration. |
