Need new tires, suggestions..?

My moms 04' z4 needs new tires
She's on those BS Bridgestone run flats. It's her weekend car, so she wants to install non run flats, decent yet reasonably price. Suggestions..?

Hankook Ventus - good ride, good price for a 'mom' car.

Yep I'd say either Hankook Ventus or Continental ExtremeContact DW. Both are affordable and get great reviews.

The Michelin Pilot Supersports are the hot one now. Cheaper than the PS2 and a much better tire. I bought the Conti Extreme DW's myself, but would probably go with the Michelin's today.

I don't have any experience with other tires but when I bought my Z4 last year my dad picked up my car while I was out of the province and he said he hated the ride. Huz-Z from here told me he had the Hankook Ventus tires and for me the price was good so I went with them. Like I said I don't have much to compare to but I found the ride extremely good and my dad said it was like a different car. Either way, get rid of the runflats

I had the Hancooks after the runflats when I had the 3.0si and I agree that they made a world of difference in the ride. When I sold the 3.0si, I got to keep the Hancooks and put them on my M coupe. They were tough to balance but had great grip. Now I have the Michelin SuperSports and I can say that if you can afford the extra $300 or so, they are a much better tire than the Hancooks. Better traction and no balancing issues. The sidewalls seem more stable as well. Great tire.

I have nitto invos on my 330i and the wife's SLK. Quiet, comfy and good in the wet. It was a huge upgrade over the stock RFTs on the E90 and I'll probably be putting them on the Z Coupe when she needs new boots.

Want General Exclaim UHPs? I have a 255/40/18 spare. Then you can just buy brand new ones to match the other corners. Mine's barely used anyway.

edit: oh wait. Non-M Z4 probably had 17's from the factory right? Unless sport package or something?

I've been quoted about US$1300 just for a set of 2 rear Michelin SP2 run-flats for 18inch Z4 coupe (here in Australia). I was wondering what they cost in the US, and if I should maybe import them myself from the US?

Michelin Pilot Ps2 blew away my Hankooks v12. And the v12 is a damn good tire just not in the PS2 category IMHO. Same twistys, different all around feel and handling. Where the Hankooks would break free the PS2's didn't make a sound. ANd the Michelin Pilot Supersports are supposed to be even better with twice the life!

Haven't put the PSSs on the car yet, but I was amazed at how little weight they needed for balancing compared with the Star Specs that just came off the wheels. In fact one rear wheel with a 275/35-18 PSS balanced perfectly with no weights at all!

Continental Extreme Contact DW is hard to beat for the price. Rated close to the Michellins.

On price alone I went for Falkens... £450 for all 4, massive improvement over run-flats (but can't compare them to anything else)

If your mom is like mine, than she doesn't need PS2 or supersports. I would suggest the michelin A/S sport plus. They com with a 30k mile warranty if they can be rotated.

They are directional, so they cannot be rotated except for front to back without taking them off the wheel first. If you have staggered wheels, you can't go front to back either. That's one reason I like the Pilot SS. They are asymetrical so they can go from side to side when rotating.
