How much time do you spend in the garage?
So after spending a full 8 hours Sunday cleaning the car (granted I worked on all three) I came to the realization with my wife's help that I am addicted to my detriment. How much time do you spend in the garage on the weekend?

in the winter its my place of residence, thank god my wife understands a man needs his hobies...... if i were not a designer i think a mechanic would be my choice of feild. only if i where working on speacial cars though, i find it a challenge and rewarding to get them working. or should i say keeping them working! |

I spend 2-3 hours on average. Sometimes, like you, I'll tackle cleaning all three cars and it's 8 hours or more. Usually it falls in the average, and some weekends I'm off driving the car at the track or out with buddies for a drive (which means 9 out of 10 times the wife is with me in her own car).
When I'm working on the car I'm not thinking about anything else--issues with aging parents, projects at work, investments, staff considerations, people, or whatever. It's very relaxing. I find easier to work through life's challenges, while being more creative and "present" with things that aren't car related, thanks to time spent in the garage. My wife encourages me to spend time there as I'm better for it (lots of times she's doing the same thing, but with gardening, or helping with the cars). |

It's been about 8 years since I've lived in a place with an actual garage...damn San Francisco cost of living! But when I did have a garage I spent most of my nights and weekends in there tinkering with whatever car or motorcycle I had at the time...boy do I miss it!
