I have a 2004 Z4 3.0i engine.
I have some oil leaking out of a nut next to the front most spark plug. I believe its a 10mm nut, washer, and rubber grommet/gasket. Underneath it there is another nut. I believe this is where the oil is leaking from because there is a pool of oil. What is behind this thing? How can I stop the leak? Is this a common problem?* It is circled in red. That is one of the rubber grommets for the valve cover. There are 15 of those along with the 3 parts to the valve cover gasket. Have you replaced this before? If not it is time. You will have to remove the valve cover to get to that anyway and it will give you a better idea of the overall gasket condition but it is a cheap and easy fix.

I already looked at valve cover gasket set. This one.. If this is not it, can you show me a picture of the 15 rubber grommets? Or maybe a rubber grommet kit I could buy? Thanks in advance |

Since the gasket is original and you have 55k plan on replacing the valve cover gasket and 15 grommets.
BavAuto has these: Valve Cover Gasket set part number 11 12 0 030 496 Grommet (you need 15) part number 11 12 1 437 395 and 52502 There are a few videos online that explain proper replacement procedure. It isn't difficult and should not take more than an hour to do. Good luck, Donovan |
