Low beam issue [HID]

So I recently installed an aftermarket HID kit on my car (Opt7 Bolt). There's an issue I'm having where one of the HIDs don't ignite...initially. It's kind of weird (at least for me because I'm new at electrical), but here is what I've observed:
  • Sometimes the bulbs come on without issue.
  • Sometimes when I start my car I get a bulb out warning (one of the HIDs do not come on). It is never consistent which side this happens on.
  • If I continue driving up to as long as five minutes, the "faulty" HID will come on.
  • Neither HID ever goes out once ignited.
  • I've manipulated/jiggled the HID wires once they are on to see if the HIDs go out. They don't.

Possibly related: When I bought my car, it was in transport mode. It is my understanding that that can occur from a low battery.

Nonetheless, I ran a diagnostic on my car and here are the fault codes. Any help on how to troubleshoot this would be appreciated. Sorry about the formatting below; fault codes are bold.

You might want to reset the existing codes and get a fresh start.
There's no telling when those codes set and under what circumstances.

When you buy a cheap $35 Chinese plug-and-play HID kit, you might not get the most reliable equipment. Maybe adding relays will get them to ignite consistently.

I'll definitely give this a try. Thanks.

You're absolutely right. I'll try a relay harness to see if that helps.

So I want to update this thread for those who may have had the same problem or were interested in what happened. Installing a relay most definitely solves the intermittent HID issue. No problem there now.

New problem is that by installing a relay, the passenger HID now has an unused connection. That connection supplies the signal for the bulb check. So I've had a bulb-out warning since installing the relay even though I have no issues with the HID's otherwise.

After troubleshooting with customer service, they were ultimately unable to help resolve the issue other than offer a refund.

So I decided to code out the bulb check for my low beams. It's a band-aid solution, but it'll do for now.

Thanks to those who helped!

Coding to ignore the low beam should be fine since you should easily be able to tell when one or both of your headlights stop working. I'm happy to hear my relay suggestion got them to work constantly for you, the initial HID startup can be a heavy load.
