///M roady 235/265 on stock rim
Hi all,
I need some new rubbers and would like wider tires.. I am currently thinking about 235/40-18 (front) and 265/40-18 (rear) on stock rims. any fitment problems? suggestions are welcomed. Thanks..

Why go with 40's instead of the stock 35's in the rear. That'll add about an inch of diameter. While I suspect that it will fit, your acceleration will suffer by about 4%.

OK, thanks for teaching me something. It never occurred to me that BMW would put more aggressive (lower aspect ratio) tires on the non-M, but I guess that's what they do. I guess this compensates somewhat for the higher rear end gearing of the M (3.62 vs. 3.46-3.23 for the non-M).
PS. Given that I wouldn't think the OP would have any trouble fitting the slightly wider tires he's considering. |

i was thinking of running the same setup. Im pretty positive they will fit the stock wheels. Not sure about the 40 offset all around. We need more tire gurus out here

I emailed Gary@tirerack yesterday, he also is the moderator of E90post Tire and Wheel section. Hopefully, he can shed some light on this for us.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the diameter of that setup does not match stock, so the speedometer will be off by a few percent. Does this change the way DSC behaves?

the diameter change is still less than 3%, so it shouldn't cause any problem with DSC.
