About to assume lease of Z4M - Questions
Hi fellas. I'm about to assume the lease of a 2006 M Roadster (to say that I'm excited would be an understatement). A couple of questions though:
1. I see that the floormats simply say Z4 on them without any M logos. Is this how they came originally (the owner says so)? 2. There a couple of curb rashes on the wheels. I know there are places that will take care of that, but the owner says that BMW doesn't care about the condition of the wheels when giving the vehicle back? Is that true? Thanks in advance fellas. |

The floor mats are a crap shoot - typically the doesn't come with floor mats at all. If the original buyer presses, they'll throw in the Z4 mats because they have those on hand. To get actual M mats, you have to twist their right arm behind their backs and apply pressure upwards, or buy your own.

from my experience with leases (non BMW) the dealer will charge for wheel damage after all they dont consider it to be 'normal wear'. As for the mats just as epbrown said its a tossup. My brother got regular BMW ones in his E46 M and when i got my Z4MC i got M mats As long as you get some mats (and dont have to fork out ~$70 then youre good.

1. I've got ///M floor mats in mine. That's how I got it new.
2. Curb Rash!!! The first sign of an inexperienced and unskilled owner.

Curb rash is easy to avoid most places, but if you spend some time in a densely packed area where you need to park millimeters from the curb, like Manhattan, im sure you will understand why.

Dealers will typically let curb rash go. Each wheel can get serviced in most metro areas for around $100/each...retail. Dealers shouldn't care since it costs them a fraction of the retail price.
As for the mats, it's really a tough call. I wouldn't press the issue if the price is right since they only cost $70-80. Good luck with the new car

Rashes are fine unless they are REALLY bad.
Let's say unless it has some portion of the rim chunked out, it's fine. |

dude if you are about to get a z4m, I would be worrying about way different things than what floormats the car came with. Maybe you should be taking pictures of it and if everything looks normal. Its gonna sound crazy, but one of the first things I look at in a used BMW is the MPG indicator, when I got my M it had not been reset for a long time and it was giving about 18mpg so that gave me an idea of how the car was driven, now I get 15, so I know im driving it harder than he was considering I drive highwa 755 of the time.
