2007 Z4 40K miles...burn oil smell

Hello all........Purchased a 2007 will 40K for my son graduation. Good deal...with warranty. Noticed some white smoke from left side of engine...no dripping oil, but smell of oil burning. Towed it to SD since I leave around 100 miles away ...didn't want to take any chances...anybody have any opinions of what it could be?

If you're mechanically inclined it's a pretty straight forward DIY job. This video shows the job done on a X3. On the Z4 you don't have to move all the crap that's in the way on the X3. After that it's all the same.

I am doing this repair as well this weekend. I put this repair guide together from the BMW TIS. Good luck with the repair!

When I bought my car it had about 42K miles. I soon found oil leaking from the oil pan. A lot of the bolts were loose and/or missing so I bought new ones and tightened them all up. Other forum members also found missing oil pan bolts. Another trouble spot is the oil pressure valve on the passenger side of the engine. It has a seal that goes bad on a lot of cars.

On your M? I have never heard of oil pan issues on the S54.
