interior colors

So when I bought my car, the beige Z4 logo'd floor mats were discontinued. I bought a set that were M badged, but the color was a little different. Not much, but a shade. Probably only I would notice. I am not one of those guys that loves having "M" badged stuff on my non-M car, but they were nice mats that fit great.

So after seeing a few other things - was there 2 different shades of beige? Like a different shade for M and another for non-M?

I just always figured my carpet was maybe a little faded (although it looks in great shape) and that was the difference, but maybe not?

I also see people selling Z4 floor mats with nothing embroidered into them (no "M" or "Z4") and advertising them as OEM - was there factory mats with nothing embroidered in them?? I had never seen those before?

I too thought the mats either had "Z4" or "M". My car had the incorrect "Z4" mats when I got it. The dealer put those in prior to delivery. I remedied this.

In looking at realoem.com I came up with a part number 82110152599 with the Z4 logo. they show two different part numbers for beige mats - pre and post facelift.

Check this out: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=51_5098

But it also appears there is a mat with no logo called "velour" http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=51_4829

I bought the velour mats for my black interior car.
Good quality, has stay put strips on the back side that grip very well.
Only complaint is that there is not a heel pad.

My car and a few others I have seen just have the generic black OEM mats - no M embroidered or Z4. I wonder if it has something to do with US spec or Canadian spec cars. Can anyone chime in ?

I don't think so. I believe mats are done by the dealership. I know in my case and at least one other that I read about the dealer put the Z4 mats in the car and they had to be swapped to M mats at a later date.

OK so maybe these are OEM then.

http://www.bmwpartspros.com/partloca...catalogid=8798

They said they were, but I had never seen them without the Z4 or the M before. I may try a set and get the M ones out of there ever though they are in good shape. I can use them as my "winter" mats.........

I think that some of this may relate to the fact that the exterior color schemes were a little different between the M and non-M cars, and maybe that thinking carried over to the interiors as well.

For example, the Z4M was available in Imola red but the non-M was a different red. And my 3.0si is Montego blue, while a similar but not identical blue for the Z4M was Interlagos blue I think. maybe the floor mats are designed to match the specific carpet colors installed in the M and non-M cars, and thus you see the subtle differences when you put an M mat in a non M car.

Now, if you have a black interior, chances are you can use either and it all matches up just fine.

Cocoa Mats +1

Rolled up the OEM Z4 logo mats, and went to CocoaMats.com and got these. Very nice, easy to clean and stay in place. And IMO they look good. Actually mine are sisal. Either way, they get my vote.

Those are great looking mats, but that color difference is more than I have now. I did see they had a black and tan combo that would match the black and tan conversion I kind of have been working towards.....hmmmm

I personally like black mats in a tan carpet car. Tan carpet gets dirty so easily IMHO. Black hides it better.

See I think it is opposite! I have had both and love tan interiors for that very reason. Even dusty foot prints show on black where they do not on tan. I scotch guard my mats when I buy them anyway, so any grime comes right out at the car wash!

So they arrived..........

And look at the color difference. looks worse in the pics, but still a lot of difference. The new ones do seem (need to see them in full sunlight) to match my carpet much better.

They do not look anything like my others where they attached, but they are in a BMW bag and seem to be legit BMW parts. Quality seems to be the same.

While I was buying them I saw this trunk mat and decided to try it. It was only like $50 I think. Wow - I am glad I did. This mat is very nice and plush and fits like a glove. Rather not have the roadster on there, but the mat itself looks and fits awesome.

Very nice. They do seem to use different colors in M cars for some reason. The Dream Red leather used in the standard car is very different from Imola Red used in the M's(I like the dream red much better).
