Replacing Stock Subwoofer - Will any brand work?

The plastic that holds the magnet to the back of my subwoofer finally gave out. I tried to fix it but had no luck. I'd like to know if I can replace it with an aftermarket 6.5 inch subwoofer, or do I need to buy another stock model?

Any advice is much appreciated.

The rear speakers are a non-standard impedance, so yes, you can't just buy an off the shelf speaker as a replacement.

Figures. That's BMW for you...

Fortunately I found a stock replacement on eBay (guaranteed to work) for a good price.
