Budget 5w-30 Oil

Hey all, haven't been on in a while, hope you enjoyed crimbo/nye.

Just a quick one.

I had my oil warning light come on the other and while I was in Tesco I thought I'd take a look at the car section and found some oil there.

It's Tesco own brand but said it was fully synthetic 5w-30 for BMWs. Will it be alright to put in my 03' Z4 (60,000 miles)?

If it has the BMW LL04 or LL01 rating, it should be fine (should indicate this on the bottle).

I think I remember reading somewhere that Tesco buys their oil products from Shell, but I can't remember where I read that, maybe it was Asda actually, or morrisons.
Actually mate I can't really remember at all, been over here too long... check the bottle for the rating but I'm not sure it'll be there. You may have more luck on the other forum, you know the one, based in blighty & filled with brits, not many of us over here who know what Tesco is. good luck

It says it meets and exceeds the following requirements:

- SAE 5w/30
- API SM/CF ACEA
- C3
- Low SAPS/Low ash

Can't see anything about LL0x ratings anywhere although the label reads "Suitable for high performance, higher mileage petrol and diesel engines on extended service intervals"

I would suggest Opie Oils as your best UK source for suitable oil, such as: http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-713-cast...ngine-oil.aspx

The Tesco would probably be OK, but it doesn't meet BMWs specs.
