installation of an android tablet
This is pretty slick:
http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=55267 I've thought about getting a tablet for the car. I've always had IOS devices, but an Android in the car could make a lot of sense with the google integration. I wonder how tough this would be. Sounds like the OP has done a lot of tweaking to get it to work. |

He talks about programming an arduino to get the motor working....
If you wonder how tough this is, you probably will have to learn some stuff tbh if you're getting to such a level I think you can get a better integration with a RPi & screen. Hacking the Ibus with a RPi is much easier I think than with an android based platform, and by hacking the Ibus you can control everything with your radio&steering wheel knobs. They're pretty well develloped in this thread: http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthr...ighlight=pibus

There's a guy over on the Bimmerfest forums who has replaced the OEM head unit with this weird Android-based head unit and it works alright (just covers over a big chunk of the vents). That might be an easier solution.
