I like it. I have been thinking about it myself. Did you just redout the clear section or the whole tail lamp?

redout

Just the clear or yellow section, it is a tape that matches very close the color of the lamp. New pics to see difference.
In these pics you can see the rear round red reflector (film covered) that even if is not visible, it still reflects light in the night.

I did the same thing to my 2004, covered up that ugly orange circle.

A friend told me to go to a window tinting shop, they installed and I never got to see the original roll. Sorry.

Looks so much better! Had mine sprayed. It's the only way to roll.

When this is done do the turn signals still flash orange? I have an aversion to red flashing turn signals.

By orange are you talking about amber? AFAIK, I think most states require the light emitted on front turn signals to appear white or amber, and rear turn signals must appear to emit red or amber. So technically, a car couldn't have a solid red flashing turn signal.

The reason I say "appear to emit" is that on the 330ci I had, I replaced the amber covers with clears but then just went with amber bulbs instead of clear bulbs to achieve the same thing.

I'm not sure any state would allow a red blinking blinker. In Texas, it's not just an issue of getting pulled over but they won't pass you on the annual inspection.

Flashing red signals are perfectly legal. Look at all the pickup trucks on the road.

Yep, you're right. And I just realized I actually said as much. I think my mind must have still been trying to recover from reading on another site about someone wanting to use blue bulbs all the way around, which caused my brain to want to implode.

You have already been corrected by others, but as this thread is only about the rear light clusters I figured I didn't need to specify front or back. Yes by orange I mean amber(same color IMHO). Still have not heard an answer- do the signals appear amber or red when flashing? I remember some S class M-B which had lenses that were red when driving, but the turn signal showed amber when activated.

It looks nice but I am not a fan of red turn signals. On some cars you can't tell if they are braking or turning. I guess I am old school and really appreciate the orange turn signal lights.

solid red looks good but I agree with this^
If our lights were solid red; & the clear with amber was a Euro version;
everyone would want the Euro to be different

its all good

I will go a step further- I prefer completely separate lights for braking, running lights and turn signals. The Z4 does an exemplary job with LED running lights, amber turn signals and two stage brake lights. An almost perfect light cluster to me(other than if they would have made it entirely LED like the late E46 3 series lights).
