tekarbon engine cover

I bought a carbon fiber engine cover from tekarbon, and it doesn't fit. Everything but the bolt on the front passenger side lines up, I got it to work after filing a little away at the holes, but it still doesnt sit flush to where the factory engine cover goes. I also am not able to put the nut on one bolt on the front driver side. The bolt sits too close to the cover and the nut wont thread on. Then I lost the nut into the depths between the throttle bodies and such.

Has anyone else has problems with this?

Did you contact Tekarbon? What did they have to say?

I have their CF cover. They told me that I will have to drill the holes a little larger on my own. I did that and the cover fit fine. But it yellowed a little over time due to heat from engine, I guess. Still looks really nice though.

I've got their mirrors. I like them a lot but really not top notch quality and the company doesn't seem to like to work with anyone on quality issues (only 7 day return policy if I remember correctly!). I'll probably have to have my mirrors recovered in the next couple years.

Poor IMO . If they KNOW this why not do this for the customer,??? If you splinter it or crack it by drilling to make the piece fit , they'll tell you where to go....

Piss off teckarbon and sell decent products from the off...

I've bought two items from them. The first item for a different car was SOO bad I am shocked I didn't return it. I had my auto shop fix it. The second item is fine. So my experience is 50/50.

Specific to your cover, I would prob drill out (or file out) EVERY hole a little bigger to add more play for proper adjustment. With aftermarket parts you really have to be willing to make slight modifications to get things to fit good. It's just a cover so it would be easy and no big deal to mod it a tad for proper fitment.

I have their rear spoiler as well and the clear coat peeled off that pretty quickly. Have had issues with it. Was the main reason I didn't buy the wing mirrors, didn't want the hassles.

Gel coat =/= clear coat. Any carbon piece I bought I always had sprayed with auto clear to keep it colorfast and protect the finish. Not defending Tekarbon by any means; just saying that all carbon pieces will suffer like this with sun exposure having no clear sprayed on it at a body shop.

I've been so busy since I put it on I have not had a chance to call them or anything. Because the bolts are so tight against the holes it doesn't really want to come off and I'm afraid I'll crack it if I pull too hard. Might give it a try next week after my road trip when everything settles down.
