bee post some video showing me your technique, i want to see how you do it.

I find myself unable to shift fast due to the grind issue or the fear from the grind issue.

Do you start moving the shift knob a jiffy before pressing the clutch pedal or after or at the same time?

In that video, I actually overrevved a little bit. I do owe you a video tutorial, I think you asked before.

Some z4m's have issues with grinding going from 1st to second. I don't, so I go hard on it.

The simplest explanation is perfectly coordinated timing with my foot hitting the clutch and my hand pulling the lever straight back. Believe it or not, its done in a single motion. I kick the clutch and shift at the same time. Going over a rough analysis of the audio from the videos, my 2-3 shift is between 100 and 200 milliseconds (from full throttle in 1 gear to back on the throttle in the next)

so yeah, clutch kick and shift happends in one syncronized motion

just gradually build up to it. If you fuck up a shift, just remember to immediately push in the clutch pedal as fast as you can

Problem is that ESS doesn't provide quality worm gear clamps. What I don't like about worm gear, is that the second you tighten them past their limit, they click off and lose connection, its probably like that for all worm gear clamps. Pain in the ass, they easily turn worthless after you overtighten them, which takes surprisingly little effort

I use some of the 1 or 2 stock ESS clamps in the hard to reach places that I'm not worried about, but most of the other stuff is high quality t-bolt. I could give a rat's ass about it not applying even pressure on 10" of the pipe, the point is that it silicone is soft and they do a great job of holding a great seal. Sure you can screw up a pipe if you tighten them while on a roid rage, but you'd have to be really aggressive with it.

Time to replace my camber eaten front tires. Will order the rears soon, they're near the wear bars. I loved my Bridgestone RE-11s, but would like to try their direct competitor, the Advan AD08 because they have slightly higher dry traction, plus they run much wider in the 265/35/18 size, so I should be able to put more power down once I upgrade to 10psi next year. Right now, in the Floridian warmth, the RE-11s have been hooking 1st gear pretty damn well in full throttle when warmed up.

Here are the width differences:
Tire/Tread Width
AD08/10.3"
RE11/9.6"

plus, they're 1lbs lighter

this is from -2.5* camber, and 0 toe. Might have to re-check my alignment

hmmmmm not sure you got the point here?? firstly.... you should BE tightening worm clamps Past their limit??? thats the whole point?? its about using your mecanics brain and knowing... right.... thats more than tight enough.... the post wasnt to bash you or anyone else using bolt thrus, it was more to educate as alot of us swap out and think Arhhhh these are better, which imo they are not ;-) Its a great article imo :-)

now.... have you had a bad day or is it just that time of the month?????

dont get defensive man... its a freaking clamp!!!! im just linking to what the experts think on it... incidentally i run the worm style, albeit upgrade and im more than please with them, infact using a hand tool they are great to Tq up as you really have to put effort in using the special worm clamp tool, you really get an idea of " ohhh thats tight enough" if you get me....

be cool bro..... be cool!!

BTW, I'm gonna be selling my stock section 1 with 90* bungs and my electric cutouts. I'll use those funds for a catless custom section 1.

Beedub, please be the first to upgrade to 10psi, so I know for sure what hardware is needed
I think Jaws can make a custom crank or supercharger pulley to bump up boost, just gotta find out if our injectors are adequate for 500rwhp
