I was at the Nurburgring for BlancPain Endurance race and the Nordschleife was open so I couldnt resist. Did 2 laps on the Nordschleife.

My second lap:

Got held up by traffic at some parts and tried to save a little fuel in the final part. See my fuel light is already on at the beginning of the lap and showed 0km halfway through. The final corners I was constantly in doubt if i was going to make it or not

Anyway still faster than the laps I did 3 months ago on the same shitty average street tires. Track temp really does a lot. Only 13C ambient this time vs 34C last time.

Got some ugly downshifting in my lap though. My brake pedal was so soft and It felt like there was no end to it how deep I could press the brake pedal. It went way too far towards the floor. I tried but couldn't really heel toe anymore, especially under heavy braking. What mods have you guys done to get a firmer pedal? Im using relatively fresh ATE Typ200 fluid and everything is stock.

Not crazy about ATE, I've had soft pedal with it before. Now I run Motul 600 with PFC track pads (11's bite so hard but 08's are easier on rotors). Also did custom 3" brake cooling which makes a big difference.

What about the brakelines? I have the stock ones. Do those kind of brakelines expand a lot more when hot? Or should it be kind of consistent in feel? I'm OK with the brake pedal feel when everything is cold. Did you notice any change in that when you switched over to braided SS lines?

No real appreciable difference. I only switched as safety precaution because I track so regularly, thought replacing 8 year old lines was cheap insurance. Ok pretty sure factory ones are steel as well with just rubber exterior.

Also, on my next lap I was 3.9 seconds ahead about halfway through but they signaled the end of the session. I probably would have been in the high 2:50s had I been able to finish that lap. The track was drying but damp in spots (it had stormed about an hour earlier).

Details
Autobahn Country Club (Joliet, IL) - Full Track - Damp
Roadster, S54 - Stock
BF Goodrich Rival (2013) - 245/40/18, 275/35/18
3:06.4 (10Hz GPS and RaceChrono)

Returned to the track to close out the season (thanks, Chicago weather). Shaved off 11.5 seconds from my first personal best. And I was still missing some apexes. I changed the mount location and reprogrammed the GPS from 10Hz standalone to 5Hz w/ DGPS, since many say that it is the better way to go for accuracy.

Thanks ! The aero made it much easier to be consistent , even on street tire . It's the stock dash that has been hydrodipped.
