Android Auto for e85?

It is almost time to come out of hibernation here in Michigan.

Last year, I toyed with the idea of changing head units as the Business CD is a little outdated, but I didn't pull the trigger.

Now that Android Auto is further along in its development, has anyone seen a good implementation for a Z?

Along those same lines, if you have updated your head unit, what did you go with?

I have now 100% talked myself out of an aftermarket head unit. That particular Pandora's Box can stay shut.

Apparently, everyone in North America is sold out of the OEM Aux Ashtray adapter.

Anyone else have an elegant-ish solution for AUX on a Business CD stereo?

Check the MINI aux cord.... its the one we used in my brothers car. When installed it looks identical to the factory 2007+ aux in our cars and is half the price of the BMW kit.

I will look into this. Did you brother have a Business CD?

He has the nav but it just plugs in to the back of the head unit in the dash. Here is a link to a good write up about the MINI aux. The post about the MINI aux by user "ovrkll is about half way down this thread.

Hey neighbor, these guys still have it:

https://www.getbmwparts.com/partloca...catalogid=4462

But IF you can get hold of the old BMW ipod adapter and stick a bluetooth dongle to it, you can get rid of the wires, hence the elegance.
Oh did I mention the the sound is WAAAYYYY better in this than an aux..
goodluck

Hey, can you elaborate on the quality of sound of what now? I have an '07 that comes with the Aux plug. You're saying that the way it's setup doesn't sound good?

No, I said the way it sounds, playing via a ipod integration kit it better.
I have tried both aux and ipod integration kit on our cars and I noticed the difference. Aux only uses your car speakers to play music while the music "file" is processed in your phone/ipod etc.
With the integration kit you use both cars' stereo system and the speaker for processing and playing the music file. Think of it as an ipod dock vs aux cable. It turns you car stereo into an ipod dock.

Thanks. Can you provide a link for this? I looked but don't know what I'm looking for. I guess you're saying it plugs straight into the DSP amp using a digital signal? That would be awesome since I've been thinking that the quality of sound running from my phone through the Aux plug is lacking.

Here is a thread by the legendary Ron Stygar, to help you get started.
Goodluck!
