Looking for 06-08 Z4 3.0si, any big differences?

Hi All,

I'm looking for a fun second car to drive on my way to work and back since I take the canyons everyday.

I initially had decided on getting a miata but for some reason remember the older z4s with the soft top (not a fan of the current gen z4, they are heavy and really not sporty anymore...)

Anyways, any big differences between the 06-07-08 MYs?

Any tips would also be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

IIRC, just about nothing except for some color availability changes in 2008.

2007-2008 had the aux input as a standard option and the updated lifters

One thing that is a plus about a nicely maintained 2006 is the fact that its tire pressure monitoring system uses the ABS brake system to monitor wheel speed and detect a tire issue - as opposed to 2007 and 2008 cars which have sensors in the tire valves which can be quite troublesome when they act up.

Also, while some 2006 cars can exhibit sticky steering in hot climates, that was corrected for cars built in the latter half of 2006. I've never noted this with my 2006, although I do live in Canada (the tropics it ain't up here).

With respect to the lifters, its generally accepted that the worst aspect of this is an annoying noise when cold, and lifter damage should not be a concern. My 2006 had the lifters addressed under warranty by the initial owner - I was able to verify this with the local dealer before purchasing the car.
