What is a trust worthy clutch/flywheel brand?
im looking to replace the clutch and flywheel and i want something that improves accelleration. Or anything that anyone has tried would probably be considered

all i see are m3 e46 packages and the prices look appealing but idk if they will fir on the roadster even though both share the same engine i do know that the tranny was basically completely new for our cars as far as design goes.....

Get a JB racing flywheel.
As for clutch you're going to have a hard time. I have yet to be able to confirm what spline our clutch has, it's either the m3 or its a very rare high spline count that there's hardly any good offerings for.

Also, if you have the ability for the car to be down I can tell you what car it shares clutches with.

O-cha - I just may have confirmed your suspicions - check this out...if there is any merrit to it, it's a high spline count input shaft
http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum....php?t=1492268 Hard to count, I get 22 or 23 splines. More, smaller splines isn't bad from a strength point of view though, is it? Not that input shaft slpine strength is even that relevant on this car.....

Not to threadjack, but I'm also thinking about getting one for my 3.0i. It seems like I have to wait ~2 sec to upshift. The revs hang for what seems like an eternity.
UUC Link I'm considering that one since it's a matched set, and I've read it's important to match the clutch to the lightweight flywheel. My original clutch has 110k miles on it. I'm fairly easy with it, but I have no idea how the car was driven for the first 55k miles. Judging by the curb rash on the wheels when I bought it, RFTs, alignment ridiculously out of spec, and the pen I found advertising some sort of pharmaceutical drug, I'm guessing a rich doctor that didn't know what he was doing owned it before me. |

Last time I ordered a humble <$200-worth of "in-stock" parts. I never got any e-mails informing me of a backorder (had to find out online after a few weeks without receiving any packages in the mail). Never got any updates either until I called in. The rep on the phone made it seem like they totally forgot about my order altogether lol. And because they're so _ _ _ ish, they refused to ship out the part of my order that was in stock at the time that I placed my order. So I had to wait over a month until the backordered items were back in their inventory before they shipped everything out altogether. Ground shipping too. Woot! Good thing I ordered well ahead of time and was in no rush for the items. Cool story eh? =] Last edited by mfanatic325; 01-21-2011 at 02:37 AM.. |

Glad you enjoyed that one. I actually tried pretty hard. Took me like 5 minutes to tell that joke/story. Partly cause some ricer detracted my attention and I lost my train of thought when he/she decided to wake my entire neighborhood by peelin' out from a stop sign @ freakin' 12:40 in the morning
It wasn't me, I swear My MR2 is parked up on the driveway and covered right now. That's all the rice I got right now =P |

+1 They have great prices and for the most part, their products but their customer service takes a dump big time. I ordered a brake kit from them, and they sent me the wrong brackets. They accused me and my friend of a faulty install. To make matters worse, the install was attempted on the weekend when nobody was around their office. So I basically took off the oe brakes just to put them back on and spent 2 hours effectively doing a brake flush. I had to send them my brackets first so they can confirm wrong parts were sent, and it was only 2 weeks later I got the correct parts. 2 friggin weeks, 1 week for them to confirm, 1 week to send back ground, wtf? No credit, no expedited shipping, no nada. Then during their Black Friday special, I ordered a sway bar which of course was on back order but I was never informed either. The update just said "processing" for 2 weeks. It was only after I called, they confirmed that it was on backorder but would ship "any day now"... suffice to say I done with them and just cancelled the order entirely. |

To spare this thread from me UUC-ing it up anymore, I'll just leave a tidbit.
I tracked the MR2 a total of only 4 times before I got my M coupe. It's a great car for what it is. Definitely ahead of its time. But it's old now, and obviously can't compare to a BMW in overall package. I felt that it was a great stepping stone for me though, as driving that car fast is very difficult. So by the time I jumped into the M, I had at least already developed some good fundamental driving skill. And now I feel like I've got the hands and feet of a God when I'm driving the M LOL... Quote:
