Z4 M Roadster: Part number verification please
There is a plastic piece underneath the left front bumper on my car that is broken and I want to replace it. Unfortunately, the part that is broken off has the part number on it. The piece on the right side has the following number on it:
P/N 7 895 806 >PP TV 20< After some searching on the Internet I determined that this piece is actually p/n 51717895806 and this returns "Cover, right" on RealOEM. It appears that the left side p/n is 51717895805 which has been superseded by p/n 51718046083. This piece also has what looks like a stubby antenna mounted on it, possibly for the TPMS? Can someone verify the p/n on this piece please? Left side: Right side:

That part # looks correct. The stubby thing stuck on it is the temperature sensor (it just pops off and swap over to your new trim piece - no need to replace the temp sensor unless it's broken). These pieces are most commonly broken. Not difficult to replace, but you'll have to remove the bumper to do it

Although the TIS says to remove the bumper, I actually replaced mine without removing the bumper, but it does require a bit of loosening and flexing of components to do it.

Thinking back, I think you're right that it could have done it without removing the bumper...just need to take off the center tray to have access to it. Good point for bring this up I just need to remember that comes the next time that I have to replace mine.

I just replaced both of mine earlier this afternoon. When driving in a rainstorm, I hit a submerged branch or something that tore off my undertray and ripped the mounting tabs out of the left and right "covers". :-(
I did not have to remove the bumper to replace these, but on the driver's side, I had to unbolt the oil cooler to lower the oil lines enough to maneuver around. It also takes some finesse to take off the 2 bolts on each side that are under the fender liner. |

Does anybody know the part number for outdoor temp sensor? I replaced my under cover because the whole piece was tore off. Search RealOEM but cannot seem to find it.
Edit: The new lower cover have the slot/opening for the sensor mount. I recall the sensor wiring is not long enough to reach. I'll take off my bumper to have a closer look. Last edited by RobMCoupe; 08-03-2012 at 12:11 PM.. |
