Pretty sure he did $1100, which is a hell of a price for these headers that retail for over $1700. Sounds like the OP would take a little less, so shoot him a PM.

why does this need a tune even though there are spots for all the O2 sensors. Not sure why there would be a SEL. Can anyone explain?
Also where are the Cats installed? Thanks Last edited by NeoGeo; 10-10-2011 at 10:48 PM.. |

Absolutely correct. ESS will not support any of your problems if you don't use OEM headers (CSL or not doesn't matter), and explicitly warns about it. Email them if you don't believe me...I'd be pissed if they told anyone else otherwise.

There are a lot of threads about how the exhaust system works on our cars, but the secondary O2s expect to read exhaust gas that has passed through cats. This is even the case for Euro-spec installations. Note that in these headers, there are no cats installed before the secondary O2 bungs, just like SuperSprint and some other aftermarket header designs.

No you are fine. OP will correct me if I'm wrong, but when he states OEM, he is referring to euro headers. However, they don't have to be csl, which is "euro OEM," for our car. IE you can run a euro header off of an older, non CSL M3, and will be fine.

Right, CSL or non-CSL Euro Headers (BMW) are OK; as are the USDM headers with cats. VT2-550 will require the BMW Euro headers, USDM with cats not supported.
