Service needed soon light
My car just hit 50k and light came on . I went to a local mechanic who has a very good rep with German cars. He couldn't find anything wrong and reset the light. He said if it comes on again to swing by.
I haven't had many check engine light issues in my driving career, I was wondering how long would it take roughly to turn back on if it was a real issue? I have a long drive coming up soon so its been a little bit of my concern. Thanks in advance guys Last edited by jnkhan82; 07-27-2010 at 02:26 PM.. |

ah he didn't tell me. I was in the waiting area.. he dropped a comment to another worker about the emissions sensor, but only told me it's probably a glitch... has me a bit worried.

Without the code that tripped the indicator, it's kinda like throwing darts. My light came on a few months ago and indicated the pre-cat oxygen sensor was bad. No issues since replaced.

This Friday I tried to fix up the yard a bit, ended up being more work then I thought and the heat almost killed me. I ended up with a fever, sucked, stayed in all weekend. Man, that's some work your doing..lol. As for the top latch, you know you could remove it? It doesn't do anything. To stop that noise when the top is down, I just put a piece of soft velcro on it. works like charm, you don't even see it. I could'nt figure out how to remove the damn latch, otherwise I would have just removed it, it's supposedly not even on the models 06 and up... |

Yeah, picked it up from staples 3m brand. I haven't heard any sound since, unless I hit something hard, I duno where that chirp comes from, but that roof when its down is so annoying. I really want to remove that piece tho, just because I don't like this makeshift fixes. I can't get to the back screws of that bracket.

here is more information about squeaky noise
http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=389322 it comes from when brackets rubb against lock/latch and both are quoted with plastic,so plastic is worn out and metal rubbing against metal creating that noise |

I tried that, I'm the reason that guy put more additional images up. If you remove that latch and drive around the sound stops because the top of the latch touches top of the plastic, thats why the sound stops. Nothing around his highlighted area lock area changes if the roof is up or down. I followed that tutorial, wasted my time. The roof latch doesn't even come close to the lock/latch. The top latch actually rest on a back metal piece about the panel, you'll see scrape marks on the tops latch. Best way of course to just remove it. I put velcro padding thick enough to not let the latch go to far into the other metal holder. If you don't open your top all the way, the sound does not come either.
Took a lot of experimenting. Maybe that tutorial was just his panel problem, took me a while until I found it on some other post, I'll see if I can dig it up again. |

hey
Does that 3m sticky back Volcerno scratching soft top inside? i think it does, you should double check you soft top ,mine was scratching it, i took it off and order parts and got them replaced,no more sqeaky/rattle sounds when the top is down. |
