Painted rear reflectors(red lights)? Yay or nay?

I have previously done the front reflectors and they came out pretty good. I know the rears light up and is throwing me for a loop. I can unplug and paint, then plug back in or paint and leave unplugged(or no paint at all). Just seeking your opinion as far as safety and if it will enhance the car enough to actually go through with it. Have all the materials on hand to do the job. Thanks guys.

Removing the front bumper now to get a respray and send the headlights to Eric at Tekarbon

Here is the car now with just the fronts painted(sorry about crappy pics).

I would leave the rear reflectors the way they are. I did my fronts and they came out really nice as well. The only thing that bug me a little bit is the i know that the reflectors have been deleted. I would only do the rears if i was to have the whole bumper respray. That way i could patch the whole thing up to get everything smooth. Btw, you should have done the same prior to respray your front bumper.

I didn't vote and going through the same decision down the road. I bought a used front bumper cover. It is getting reflector delete by filling the holes. I want to see how it turn out before deciding on the rear. The issue I see for rear is a crease is there on the rear bumper. It runs arcoss the middle of the reflector. To do a proper reflector delete, the body shop will have to connect the crease. The easy route is to paint and leave it unplug.

If I paint them I can always order a new set if I don't like I suppose. $50 or so I think. I have the car in the air now. Still contemplating.

Im also assuming the only way to get to those is to completely remove the rear bumper cover also?

Not true. They twist out, you can get to them from under the car. Its tight, and you might need girly hands to get in there, but you don't have to remove the bumper to R/R them.

I painted them and left them unplugged.

Quite frankly unplugging them never came to mind and I just painted them. A little light shines through at night but I can sleep at night. I see no reason not to unplug.

I have never heard anyone regret doing the front delete but i guess it is your car and it is better be safe than sorry.

Wow, that looks really nice and clean. Imagine how much cleaner if the reflectors were filled. I know it is more work to fill it in but that is what i would do if i ever have to respray my bumpers

Just a suggestion: You can put a piece of tint on the reflector that's been cut to shape and smoothed out. Let it dry, then paint it. That way if you ever want or need to reverse the delete you can reverse it by pulling the tint rather than having to buy another set of reflectors. I wouldn't worry about the longevity of the tint as a base layer since it will be covered by several layers of paint and clear coat.

Good idea..

I have the front bumper pulled and the rear reflectors pulled. Just might do the prep work on the reflectors and let my body shop spray and clear while they are doing the front bumper and Tekarbon has the headlights.

I have Dan's Decals. Technically we're all breaking DOT/MOT regulations

All four of mine are curing at this time. I got tired of Dans Decals. They work and look good but not as good as painted ones.

Of course nothing looks as good as filled holes....

I plan on doing this come spring, due to how clean it looks without them. I can live with the ones up front but the back? red on blue AND they light up? terrible. Do it right and unplug, you'll only have to do it once

close vote. Dropped them off at body shop with the front bumper. They are gonna spray and clear together. So my fronts will be properly matched too since they are still in the front bumper. The rears were tight to get out but I got them. Hoping not to scratch when putting back in. Will let them cure and put something protective over them when inserting.
