Here's my data point ...
I had researched Z4 M Coupes for several months last summer/fall, searching both on my own and a wholesaler watching Manheim for me (few hits). When the right car came along last fall, I immediately bought a 1 owner off-lease July 2008 car! 24k miles with original factory warranty until 10/2012 for $33.8k which should cover nits as well as the next major inspection. It has all options except for extended leather. They had to put on new Continental DW (grr) front tires before they could sell it.

This car has been for sale only for a month, so not long at all.

As was stated earlier in the post, these cars are bringing 26-29K at auction, and the dealership examples I've seen all seem to have similar mileage. Even if you allow them a grand or 2 as profit margin, this car appears to be priced pretty high. I'd call the car a decent buy at 30K, but it seems like the dealer may have that or more tied up in it. If you really want the car - I'd bet you that an offer of 32-33K would get the deal done, especially if it's been sitting for awhile (which it has.)
33.5K will buy the car. You can PM me if you need details.

But, after talking to my BMW mechanic and several independents, they all say the same thing: Run away due to the missing 1200 mile service. Reason being: The break-in fluids used at the factory are just that-break-in fluids. Running the car over 5000 miles without changing them is a problem. They also said that BMW will not CPO a car that is missing this service, no matter how nice or optioned out it is.

Just my two cents, but I would have bought this car two weeks ago and had it shipped had it not been for this. I'm fearful of problems in the not so distant future with this particular car. Add the fact that it is missing a second key, books, mats, has paintwork on the nose, etc. etc., and I still think $33.5k+++ is still too high for this one.

They paid $30k + fees and transport for this specific coupe (so around $31k before it was ever serviced, cleaned up, door dings removed, etc...) As I stated earlier in the thead, these cars are trending upward due to the spring market (regardless of where its located as it is a national market); if you want a smoking deal on a coupe..buy from a priviate party or wait about 6 months.

yup. I drove the car here and it all seemed good on the surface. But it was too expensive and that missing 1200 mile service was a big red flag.

I'm totally with you on that one. I loved the color combo and options, but in the end it had too much missing and too many issues for me to pull the trigger on $33K.

I wish you good luck on your hunt, my friend. It seems as if many of these in the "free world" have missed their 1200 service. I wish i could have bought one of these new back in the day, but my budget didn't allow it.

same to you. I just couldn't rationalize this as a daily driver. The traffic in Los Angeles is just crippling so driving a stick gets really old. I think I'm gonna get a 335is, a used 335 coupe or the new f30.

I love the 335 but I wanted something a little more unique. I know I'm being picky but I truly love the Z4M.

Good Luck. I travel to LA on business and the traffic and roads are something else. Atlanta is not much better, though.

The roads where I live are a disaster. If you go to malibu or beverly hills or the nice parts of orange country the roads are paved with gold. I live in the densest part of hollywood and the roads look like Fallujah. I have been meaning to take a picture of this massive pot hole that they just spray painted with white paint so that you could see it better. That's how much the city gives a shit about your car or safety.
