Please excuse my ignorance, but when I read about offset, spacers, ET, Rim Size, etc, I am reading Greek. Would someone please break down all this terminology for me? I am intrested in changing rims, but have been intimidated by all the talk of sizes, and offsets. Here is an example.
8x19 ET 37 225/35R19 front, 9x19 ET 39 255/30R19 rear I have no idea what this means except for the tire size portion. The 8x19 ET 37 is Greek. |

8 inch width by 19 inch diameter. Pretty simple there. The ET37 is where things start to get confusing. Its the offset and measures the position of the hub relative to the center of the wheel. In other words it determines where that 8 inches of width is placed in the wheel wheel. Too much offset and inside of the wheel/tire will be rubbing on your suspension components, fender liner, etc. Too little offset and the wheel tire will be sitting outside the wheel well, protruding outside the body. Make sense? Just read a lot of threads in the wheel/tire section and you'll get an idea of what you need to look for for fitment. You can also go to tirerack.com and put in your car and see the proper fitments.
