Rear shock adjustments - z4 roadster
Ok, does any of you know if there is a way to modify a sofftop cradle so that one be able to adjust rear shocks from the trunk without removing them (shocks) from a car?
As I know, it is possible in a coupe, so I was thinking if anyone made it in a roadster? I'm just days away from installing my KW V2 and still dont have a clue about rear redamp level.. bought the rogue RSM's, so it won't be that hard to remove the shocks, but would love to tweek them to my liking without all the removing procedure.. I've found this thread:
http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=591372 But I can't say I'm impressed by the quality of craftsmanship Anyone did it better? Probably there's a way to cut out only small holes, but maybe someone investigated it before? |

I just installed adjustable Konis this weekend and used the Rogue RSMs. They are an absolute MUST for rear shock mounting in a Roadster. Excellent quality part and makes removal very, very easy. You could have both sides removed, adjusted and replaced in around an hour (depending on your mechanical abilities.) Install of all rear shock components took around 4.5 hours.

I also have Rouge RSMs but as you said - you need an hour to readjust rear suspension, whereas it sould take only minutes..
I've ordered tokico adjuster extenders, but I'm afraid there's not enough space to fit them |

Installed those coilovers today (at last!)
We drilled holes in the plastic covers above RSM's and it is now possible to adjust shock redamp through those holes - it's not a comfortlable way because you have to do it with roof up, and works a treat! So job done, I have a coilover which I can set-up every day without dismantling anything |

Hi and thanks
Haven't thought of taking pictures while working, but will try to make some in the neares days. First of all we drilled small elegant holes, but after few minutes we knew it wouldn't be enough as the top af the shock may move around a little in the top mount, so we made huge and ugly holes, but they cannot be seen with the roof down, and are quite well hidden to spot with the roof up. Essentially we drilled holes in the top of the plastic "domes" in elements 3 and 14 Now there's quite a lot of place, even to put an adjuster extender, but I don't know if the extender wouldnt harm the softtop glass so we decidded to leave it alone - KW's are adjusted with 2mm allen key, so no problem using it that way. If one isn't flexible enough, then another easy entry to this holes is after opening the sofftop tray cover (number 2 on the picture above). Last edited by McKoval; 05-16-2013 at 04:12 PM.. |

I know it's been a while since I said I will post some pictures..
Here's the only one picture I have, but I think it says it all You can see a hole drilled in the plastic "dome" near the back end - rebound adjusters are directly beneath it - you can use a 2mm allen key to adjust it without dismantling neither the plastic tray nor the shock absorber - voilla |

Any info as to how to remove those two plastic "domes" that cover the rear shock towers? I am installing my KW Clubsports in a few days and haven't had them off before.. The car already has coilovers, so I presume they have been off, but everything is installed correctly right now.
Any help? Thanks! |
