Stop.

Euro cats are 200 cell and your oem us cats are 400( more restrictive)

Think about what you said
Wrong. Scroll to the last post for pictures:

U.S. S-pipes are less restrictive. Euro are a clean OEM option to run catless headers.

I actually don't know. This is from what I've picked up from reading the forums. People usually go with aftermarket headers and/or euro headers. As for section 1, to me both US and euro look the same. I don't know about the 200/400 cell.

I know it's the headers, then section 1(with or without cats), then section 2 (Xpipe with or without resonator), then the mufflers.

So many options from SuperSprint (stepped vs tubolare vs regular)and whether you need to relocate your O2 sensors and how to handle the EGT and whether you need a tune or not gets so damn confusing. Any coaching would be appreciated.

Ok so from what I've read just now on pokey's link, I could use the euro headers and keep the US section 1 (OEM S pipe) because it's less restrictive then the euro one? Only problem is I'll have to deal with the hassle of relocating O2's?

just to update some information....

what we discovered in that thread was correct bar one fact.... both cats are 400 CELL... as confirmed by supersprint exhausts.

obviously the US section had less material as it had cats in the headers, so with the euro headers, the US section would be more free flowing , but both contain 400 CELL material,.

The combination of Euro headers or any catless headers with the euro z4m cats will be less restrictive.

Long story short as hell, the z4m cats are used in conjunction with aftermarket catless headers of any sort to accommodate the o2 bungs and so forth and pass emissions.

I'd like to see the cats of a US system up again the cats of the Euro system to see the "same cell thickness"

Or other credible evidence that they both have 400 cell style..

Lots of cell talk in here. The North American Z4M has 4 short cats. The Euro Z4M has 2 long cats. If you put the 4 short North American cats together they equal pretty close in length to the 2 Euro cats. So overall both exhaust versions have about the same total amount of catalytic material. The cell sizes are the EXACT same in both versions. The only difference is WHERE the catalytic material lies within the exhaust system.

When one eliminates the North American header cats by adding Euro (catless) headers (or other aftermarket headers), you have a choice of running the section 1 SHORT North American cats, or the longer section 1 Euro cats. I know they look the same length but that's just the heat shield.

I personally believe that only running the 2 short North American cats in section 1 is not enough cat material. You run the risk of setting off a check engine light or not passing smog. For that reason I recommend the Euro cats when using euro headers or aftermarket headers. In the end you will have the same amount of catalytic material that you started off with but it will all be positioned further back in the exhaust, which helps horsepower.

I'm not sure how cells are counted so that is probably why some people say the euro cat has more cells. If you look in the section 1 pipe and count the holes they are the same in both versions. The euro cats are just twice as long.

Buy euro cats if you don't want any headaches. Free Bump
