Now maybe not. But rest assured TRD will offer a supercharger, as it is more simple to make than a turbocharger. TRD does makes superchargers and turbocharger for Lexus IS350, Toyota MartX and many other JDM models.

I'd like to see the same work done on the GT86 by TRD as the one done on the Celica GT-Four TRD. I really don't like the TRD line for the 86, it is more cosmetic than funtional.

Looking at the supercharged boxer engine from the RUF Cayman we can have a clear idea how the Toyobaru's boxer engine will look like with a S/C, mainly its location between a 'splited intake manifold'. It's easy :

Looks awesome.

Kinda like the offspring if a Hyundai Genesis coupe and a Lotus Elise did some freaky shit one night without a rubber

Once again this should pretty much put the turbo rumors to bed. Here we have a no-expense-spared STi concept. CF roof, CF hood, things that won't even make the production model. And..... no turbo.

Sure, I buy that.

The base car isn't even out yet, I don't blame them for not showing the hot version yet. But believe me, they will. Automobile listed a 7.0 0-60 run, that's just a barrel of weak sauce, even if it does handle great. Subie will 100% turbo charge the BRZ before 2015.

Someone at Toyota should pick up a phone and call Hiroshima and ask how the great handling, but low torque RX8 worked out for Mazda.

Not surprising all the negative comments about low torque. Even on Bimmerpost so many think the M3 E9X has low torque. Funny, when the most tracked car is the Miata which has even less torque is faster than Porsches and Ferraris on track days..

Most likely due to the driver of the Miata. Miata is good and even better with a track suspension, but with driver being equal, it's not porsche or ferrari destroyer...

I'm a previous Miata owner, and love extracting the most from them on the track. They're great city cars too, but pretty dull and tiring on the highway. I think that if Mazda hits their target goal of 2200 pounds for the ND that it will be most of what the Toyobaru thinks it is, as it stands, I'm not overly impressed.

It's more car than the Hyundai Genesis Coupe, at least until the new engines, but I don't see it as a hugely better car than an NC Miata, a car that's really, really long in the tooth. I do think that the addition of a turbo to the BRZ in a few years will make it a much more appealing daily driver, even if it does compromise it's track balance slightly.

100% right. The thing is not all Prosche/Ferrari drivers are the best drivers. I have nothing against anybody driving such a car, on the contrary well for him, but it is not a reason to say cars like MX-5, BRZ, RX-8 and S2000 are bad/slow because they lack power.

I do not see the BRZ as a better car than the MX-5. For me the BRZ is just like a slightly faster MX-5 with 2 safety seats and no openning roof, thus more room. What keeps me from buying the MX-5 is that there is no proper Coupé version, but only a Roadster, exactly what I disliked about the S2000, there was only a Roadster and no Coupé. I just have a preference for 2 seater Coupés over 2 seater Roadsters.

Agree 100%, I sold my Z3 M Coupe which replaced that Miata. Coupes are just better track cars.

Very excited to see more on the car...Nice lines and great performance at a reasonable price point. Aftermarket will make them crazy fast...and/or factory special models...STi, etc.

Yes I agree straight line speed is a joke. For the 99% of people driving this on the streets only, it is definitely these days considered a slow car.

Will be a nice piece, when Subie throws a turbo on it.
