U were right. Thankfully my meth tank was down to about 1/4 gallon or less when this happened. I found about a cup's worth of it in the intercooler piping. Its apart now and drying. Engine should be ok.

I was a fool to run this without a safety flow check valve

the aem has a built in check valve in the knozzle.... so basically its failed!! unless you have an early kit without it....

tom... sill think you may want to do a thorough engine check..... the engine injesting a cups worth of fluid wont have helped it in any way... remember youve found a cups worth left in the pipes... we dont know how much its actually injested.....

hmmmm..... meth/water..... awesome thing but sadly just another thing that can fail.

what went wrong.... theirs no way that should be leaking into the boost pipes....
heres the bumpf of flooded motors

A severe form of engine flooding occurs when excessive liquid fuel enters the combustion chamber. This reduces the dead volume of the combustion chamber and thus places a heavy load on the starter motor, such that it fails to turn the engine. Damage (due to excessive compression and even dilution of the lubricating oil with fuel) can also occur. This condition is known as the engine "flooding out".

I have the older kit with no check valve. Car started and idled fine after drying out for a bit. I feel like I dodged a bullet

Definitely not running it again without a check valve. The strong vacuum that i get with a cold startup was probably what caused it to suck all the meth in through the injector.

I ordered a higher quality than AEM check valve from Alcohol Injection Systems.com

Car is running fine today. Just hit 60,000 miles

did pretty well at my first autocross down in Sunrise, Florida. Raw time position was #34 of 85 cars. Usually I'm near the bottom because of my messy driving in Philly. It was an easy course to navigate, so I concentrated on maintaining momentum and rarely went full throttle.

I learned a lot that day about driving fast. I'd identify sections where I'm understeering because I was coming in too hot, and I'd correct it for the next run by coming in slower for those sections, and then going through faster in the following section as a result

Next time I'll run higher pressures than 38/30 psi

Video coming tomorrow. A bit of oversteer in this pic

Thanks guys. For some of the runs, i had the valves closed. Its so loud that its a little distracting sometimes. Lol. I got the new check valve but didnt have time to install it or check the function of the old one.

Got a promotion at work though !

this weekend there's a dragracing event, and october 28th is another autocross. my poor poor tires... almost dead from the negative camber wear too..

still haven't had time to install the new check valve. I think my meth kit already has one, and I'm wondering if adding another one next to it will interfere with flow..

thanks!

I have a strong craving for more power now, but thats how it always is..

I'm gonna TRY to contain myself from any supercharger/engine upgrades until the car is paid off (4 years or so). THEN, go big. really big.

my dream build is 18psi of boost, 9.5 compression rebuild, proefi computer, and E-85 fuel capable since I have a gas station that sells it 2 miles away. Should be good for 650rwhp/450rwtq. I figure an upgrade like that would cost between $10k and $15k installed

here's a funny place to get a boost leak. Its the vacuum line fitting attached to my boost gauge receiver. It was causing the gauge to show a 4psi boost leak, even though the car felt like it barely had any leaks. Luckily, my local store had replacement pieces for like $3.

Of course this was the LAST place I checked

Well, the air temperature was about 67*F versus 85* last time, and I finally cracked the mid 12 second mark at the track.

I lowered my rear tires to 22psi cold. My meth kit was turned on, but I think that because I'm using 2 check valves together in-line, its not flowing as well as it should be. Also, I didn't verify my settings on the controller box. So I don't think I was making more than 475hp CRANK based on my trap speeds. For my last 2 runs, I shifted the 1-2 shift at 7500rpm or so to put the power down better, even though it was pretty solid in full throttle in 2nd gear, I spun too much shifting at redline before.

Here were my runs:
Run # 60foot time ET MPH
1 2.165 12.663 115.08
2 2.012 12.511 114.82
3. 1.863!!! 12.170!!! 116.42
4. 2.017 12.348 116.36

I'm soooo excited about my progress. I mean... a fuckin' 1.8s launch on street tires! and I FINALLY hit low low 12s in the quarter mile. I think I can dip into 11s once I dyno tune my meth kit and the temperatures drop another 10 degrees.

Spanked the AA tuned 135i, which was running impressive mid 12s eventually. Note that my MPH didn't go down, only slightly up as the night went on and it got cooler, and the car was NOT heatsoaking given 20 minutes between runs

oh and I FINALLY weighed my car! Very excited about that. With 1/2 tank of gas, I'm exactly at 3182LBS (battery, wheels, some trunk trim gone)

TOLD YOU!!! i knew you'd dip low 12s... your easily on target for a high 11!!!! well done!!
your car is running strong..... BTW thats a very strange rip on yuor stack vac line coupler.. those are made of pretty tough rubber, im guessing you was alittle rough putting it together??

really excited..... be careful with those stock axles tho...... they are WEAK!! i wonder if we'll run into subframe cracks like the e46 cars??? then again i guess we'd have seen them by now with all the high milege cars out their.

its a little bit heavier, I thought I'd be near 3150lbs, but then again I have a fully loaded interior with navigation and extended leather. Without 6 gallons of gasoline, I'd be at 3114lbs.

My rears saved me some weight in the rear, but the overall wheel/tire package up front is much wider and bigger than stock, and I think heavier

I was fortunate enough that there's a FREE and very accurate scale at this track. Byron, you really need to go weigh your car, and not at a truck stop that has a large error margin

thanks!

I was very careful with my stack vac coupler when installing, it might have become brittle from engine heat... I do drive my car daily. Go check yours.

If the axles break, I'll replace them with stronger ones. no biggie. Not worried about any subframe cracks, none were reported on this chassis.

You know whats awesome? 2 guys from Active Autowerks were there, and said that they have the capability to tune Alpha-N setups. That means anytime I wanna go bigger boost, I don't have to worry about shipping my car to ESS, or shipping my ECU overseas to JAWS.

why dont you build a 550 spec kit.... its easy from this point... 9\10psi pulley, injectors, fuel pressure reg, new intank pump, intercooler (thicker core) and get AA to tune it then......

^^ ill do it the Ess route as i can (being a Euro car) but for you, i reckon you could probably do it CHEAPER....
