Which ARC-8 fronts can I run?

Hey guys,

I'm very close to pulling the trigger on a new set of 18" ARC-8s... I love the concave look!

I am however, having a hard time deciding which front wheels to buy... My current set up is very simple; I am just lowered on H&R springs with no camber plates or anything.

My question for you wheel gurus out there, is can I run the more aggressive front wheels like the fellow in this picture without having to purchase $400 camber plates? My tire sizes will be 235/40/18 and 265/35/18.

Please help!

Short answer - No.

Without running more camber, you cannot run a wider wheel. It is common to use 18x9.5 and go 255 or 265 squared ET35 so you can rotate front/rear (you'll need around a 12mm spacer in the back with ET35)

You can use camber shims though...you'll need 2.6-2.7*+ to clear the front strut with the addition of a 5mm spacer.

Are you talking about adding positive or negative camber? Sorry man, I'm a complete n00b when it comes to this stuff.

Negative camber...OEM runs around -0.5 to -1*

Pulling the alignment pins on the top of the strut hat in the engine bay can get you around -1.5*

If you're running positive camber something is seriously jacked with your suspension

Ok cool, thanks for the info. Are the camber shims "safe" (i.e., durable) to use with stock suspension?

Also, has anyone run a 235 width front tire on a 9.5" ARC-8? I reeeeeally want to run concave fronts and backs, but I'm not sure if my front tires are too narrow for it?

I'm running 18x9.5 et22 up front with a 245/40 and stock camber. It sticks out a tiny bit, needs about -2.5 camber to be flush like the rear.

I run shims and I'm perfectly fine.

For the 235s, you might be stretching the tire a bit on a 9.5" wheel.

K that explains it. If you were lowered, you would need camber plates and a bunch of neg camber to run a 22 offset up front on a 9.5" wheel. Thanks for the input!

Should have my coilovers in 2 weeks, will be setting front camber at about -3 or -3.5 for the track. Should it flush with 265/35/18 up front and 285/35/18 out back
