That's great news. You will love the Cayman. I just saw one in the flesh on Saturday - I didn't drive it, but I took a good look around it and it's beautiful. It's hard to explain, but the design truly makes it a thing of desire. I felt the same way about the Z4 Coupe. In terms of design it makes my 997 look dull and while 911's will always have icon status to fall back on, I get the sense that these second gen Caymans are no longer being forced to play second fiddle at Porsche.

You made the right choice getting the S. The only quibble I have heard about these cars is that the lack of power in the base model makes them a little frustrating when you're on it.

It's a stunning effort and a natural place to go after your Z4. Coming from a 3.0si, it's going to blow your head off.

What options did you get? If its not too late, make sure to get the painted key.

Cheers, I am looking forward to it. Nice to hear a former Z4C owner has an appreciation for the new cayman's looks.

The C7 was totally on my radar. I love torque. But the looks just didn't do it for me.

I love the look as well and it certainly will be a great handling car.

I have had 2 different 911's , both iterations of the 300z and a 944 Turbo - they all looked great at the time - still do - wished I could have kept them all.
M coupe is a classic shooting brake design like a Jag XKE or Stingray - long hood short deck and will be a great looking car for a long time.
I tend to forget when first produced it was the fastest BMW available - now my 06 is 8 model years old - long time in performance car world.

Other thing is never buy new - let someone else eat the first 2-3 years of depreciation and get "your car" for half price. After 45 years of buying trading selling etc I haven't bought a new car in 15 years. My best bet would be a 4 year old porsche turbo AWD for something that will actually scare you driving

Buy what you like - drive it like you stole it - like women - always a different look and performance right around the corner.

I agree. I have enjoyed two Corvettes over my years of driving. I had a 2006 C6 Convertible (yellow/black) that was a beautiful car. At 400hp it had a lot of potential, but mated with their pitiful A6 it was not my cup of tea. I would own another C5 or C6 with 6MT. Sadly, I just can't warm up to the looks of the new C7. I hope that it sells well, it is a great deal $$ wise, but I'd have to get it with the 7MT as the auto is not a DCT. The looks just don't appeal to me.

Every time I go in the garage and see my 09 Z4 I just love it's blend of modern but classic elegant style.

I've test driven, an e92 M3, a 2010 vantage v8, a lotus evora in the pursuit of a replacement and none of them did it for me.

Any suggestions on any others that might turn my crank?
Keep the old Z and get the 981. I am thinking about the same, but it costs 9 times more than the current value of my 3.0si.

MT or PDK? Get PASM and PTV as well. Please add chrono if you pick PDK.

I'm obviously biased but in my view the new cayman is at another level asthetically. I was never interested in the old cayman. The new cayman looks like a proper porsche.

I love the steering and looking of the old one more. But people in HK concern about the newer looking, that's why I still haven't made up my mind! (of course I am not sure whether the new one worth the premium)

After viewing the stock 19'' at the launch show, I guess it's ok to erase 20'' wheels from the order list.

I would consider painted roll bars, PDK and a painted key to be necessary options. I know the key sounds silly, but you actually get an extra key (which after the cost of the key and it's coding damn near breaks even). The painted key just looks and feel REALLY nice.

Make sure to get the Sport Chrono package too! I think it's relatively cheap, under $1,000.

The successor to the Z

So I picked it up this week.

It is an absolute blast to drive.

I still prefer the asthetic of my old coupe, but the driving dynamics are undeniable.

I've enjoyed being a part of this forum, I have a feeling I'll be back on here in an Mcoupe one day.

Gorgeous car. Silver always looks great and classic on a Porsche. And the red calipers really set off the wheels. Great buy...I'm jealous. Happy with my MR, and jealous at the same time.

Wow. That looks great! (I just got a full size "center fold" of the new Cayman in unsolicited p0rn from Porsche the other day.). Looks even better in these shots! Enjoy!
