WTB: Lightweight 18" wheels for Z4M
Looking for BBS RGRs, RS-GTs, LMs preferably. Must be 18" and at least 8.5 front/9.5 rear or wider. Tires are a plus. Feel free to post other lightweight 18s you have for sale in those sizes. Also, I *might* consider 19 but only if they're damn nice looking and the price is right. No replicas please.

Yeah they were 18 x 8.5. I found someone to buy all four so I decided that'd be better than trying to sell two and get two matching wider wheels for the rear. This way I won't limit myself as to which rims I will get and I'll likely end up saving money as well.

get the volk re30's listed here in the classifieds. i have these in square fitment and u won't find anything lighter in 18". forged wheels at 17lbs ftw. he has them listed for over half off, if u factor in the tires.
plus gunmetal looks damn nice if you ask me. |

Yeah they are a good deal but to me they look like track wheels...whereas I want something that will look more OEM but can also double as track wheels. I'm also not sure how gunmetal will look on Sepang.

All I've got FS are 19's sorry...
1) LE37's non-M. Will fit M but will be look a tad bit "weak", and won't be flush with fenders or 2) VT996's M-fitment. Only ever so slightly weak in the rear. |

RGRs are the most beautiful and the lightest and the most strong wheel I've ever used. Had them on my E46 323Ci.
Might I suggest you ask the fine folks over at an E46 M3 forum (M3Forum.net, E46Fanatics)? The E46 M3 fitment is nearly identical to the MZ4 and there are far more E46 M3s on the market than MZ4s. The only knock on the RGRs is that most big brake kits won't fit (there's little caliper clearance).

i used to like mesh wheels (bbs ch were my all-time favorite) but i'm a total convert to light jdm wheels (love the looks and uniquness). and the difference in weight is instantly noticeable, so you benefit all the time, street or track. check e90post, and u'll see tons of people rocking these for street. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=44609 http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=78558 Last edited by 3002 tii; 12-07-2010 at 06:13 PM.. |

I second lurking around at M3Forum.net. The classified section(s) over there are very active. 18s are going to be tough though - most people are into big rim, skinny tire stuff. It's not as common to see good, top shelf 18s come for sale on classifieds.
As much as BBS or HREs are nice, you ever consider looking at VMR wheels? I imagine you have. As different as the costs and wheel construction is, I was very seriously between VMR wheels and the boutique RAC RG63s that I went with. For a street car with occasional track use, VMRs are definitely adequate and at least at EAS they have some nice styles. But, if you lurk enough at M3forum, you might even be able to snag a set of RACs or MORRs.....you never know. Which reminds me to say, MORR is supposed to be releasing an 18" version of their new VS8.2 wheel in the beginning of the new year - might just want to hold out for a month or two to see what happens there.

Thanks for the advice. Yes, I've considered VMRs as well. Basically I want something light and functional, that will actually help performance rather than compromise it (this seems to be scarce nowadays?). But I don't want a wheel that looks like a "track wheel" since I'm daily driving the car and prefer the stock clean look.

hehe actually, I was quite satisfied with my VT996's. However, since I was able to get an extremely good deal on the authentics (with slight width and offset upgrades), with track tires included, there was no question

Yeah I like the ZCPs but I want something a little more original because I know a lot of people with them...I know BBS are common too. I think I'm just picky lol.

OK decided...going to go with 19" BBS LM-Rs in Diamond Black. If anyone has some let me know, otherwise I may just pick them up new as a Christmas present to myself.
