Have I done any damage to my engine?
I had an oil change done 1 month and 1600 miles ago at my local BMW independent mechanic. I realized today that he used Mobil 1 10w30 Fully Synthetic Extended Performance (not LL01 rated) oil instead of Mobil 1 0w40 synthetic which is LL01 rated. I'm having my oil changed tomorrow but could I have damaged anything within the past 30 days?
Thanks! |

but for Mobile 1, 0w-40 is recommended
I used Mobile 1 5w-30 and it burned like crazy and ever since I started using 0w-40, not a drop.

Not unless you drive in freezing cold or extremly high temps. Its really not that big of a difference and normal driving it should be pretty much the same, its the extreme ends where the ratings really come into play.
