Does Your Trunk Trim Have a Foam Pad?

I had to order replacement trunk trim and it came with this foam pad stuck to it. Was this just for shipping purposes or is this supposed to be installed together? Not sure because the foam isn't very secure, the glue dried out in some areas and it's pretty simple to pull out. Plus my original piece doesn't have anything behind it but wasn't sure if this was a part number revision -- maybe to address some creaking issue or something

That looks like it's meant to be installed.

hard to tell on my phone, is that the floor mat or the bulkhead wall cover? regardless, I've pretty much taken my entire trunk trim taken apart and dont recall seeing that foam. might be a weight reduction attempt in the M versus a 2.5 or 3.0 though....

It's the trim on the side that covers shock towers.

That has to be a noise reducing pad.
