i was getting my windshield replace today and across the street was a BMW dealer. i decided to walk over to kill some time... they have a black Z4M with Sepang Dark Brown Leather, and wood dash.... good luck selling that one... it looked awful. sorry, no pics.

Yes, but it sounds unique. Damn near everyone I know has a black on black car, but brown leather really sets it apart. I've seen a black 545i with the natural brown leather and I absolutely loved it because it was different. Most people have generic color combos (I'm guilty if that in my 5er), but kudos for those who pick up the "other colors".....
I searched seemingly forever looking for a black Z4 with red leather (used) and when I found my current car I had to have it. Most people either love or hate the red leather, but I like it cuz it's different.

think what you want to think, i have white on brown with the aluminum trim. It looks luxurious. It is defintely not plain and boring like black.

sepang leather on the right color (sepang bronze, white) looks great... but against the black it just looked 'off'.... way off.

I reckon it wouldnt look too bad - more like a cruisey luxury color. I tend to like tan/brown interiors when they contrast the exterior nicely. I guess the brown is a little too close in color to the black to get the contrast going properly like tan for example

Lol I had Saddle brown interior on my old E92 coupe with walnut trim and it looked absolutely amazing when it was new. After 33000 kms though the leather started to show signs of wear. The most annoying thing was the leather's color turned from light brown which looked fantastic to dark and annoying brown which make the interior look quiet old. The saddle brown is like 33% of the reason why i wanted to switch cars. I will only get saddle brown interior if i am leasing in the future.

i HATE black on brown. no offense to anyone.
But monaco or montego blue on brown and even white on brown are great combos. Black should be on black or on red, and thats it. anyone agree? |

Imola red exterior, brushed aluminum dash + dark sepang leather.
I didn't get to choose my interior colors, as I picked up what the dealer had in stock. I wasn't entirely sold at first, but it's really grown on me because of the contrast--I would've gone with an all-black interior, yet I'm happier that it's turnout out like this. |

I think wood trim on a car like the Z4 is just a poor choice to begin with.
It's a sports car, and being so, should only be offered with brushed aluminum, carbon leather, or piano black. As for the black on brown debate. I think a lot depends on the shade of brown. Dark brown has a tendency to look to dark and muddled. But a lighter brown, with a tint of red and it can look amazing. Take for instance an E46 M3 with Cinnamon on Black or Carbon Black; or the Audi A8 from Transporter 2 (Black with Amaretto) I think the brown interior adds a touch of warmth and class to the interior.

^^^ Ditto, except for wood trim not belonging in sports cars. Wood trim may not be racy, but it is a classic sports car look. All depends on what you're going for I guess.

sorry, should've been more specific... brown leather on the black as mentioned before, and wood trim only makes it worse.

I used to not like brown.....but my taste has really changed over the years with cars. I think a peanut butter interior is nice and classy. I also like wood as every car has aluminum or aluminum looking plastic...the only thing better than wood is piano black trim. That is me, and I have driven a lot of cars. Gray leather seems to be the only color I don't care for, unless new, they age terribly, mostly because a lot of older cars had gray vinyl seats.
