4.10 LSD- I am getting mine installed tomorrow Z4MC

I can hardly wait. I bought it used with very low miles (less than 2k I think) so it is safely past break-in. I am very eager for this mod since I know it is probably the single best mod for our cars.

I will be sure to share my findings.

Congrats. Too bad you won't get much time to enjoy it until next year, or are you driving your M this winter?

Mostly taking the train north to work...I put snows on it so I can drive when I want to. How about you? Is it parked for the winter or are you driving it?

Where did you pick up the part? How much?
Is it a full Diff or just the ring and pinion?
Were there any 3.9's available?

Asking because I've heard BMW has stopped manufacturing the Motorsport 3.9

And BTW, I know what you guys are talking about with the weather! It got down to 62 here yesterday. I'm glad my MC is safe in the garage under a car cover.

I bought mine from an E46 M3 owner that was returning his car to stock in order to purchase and e92 M3. The shop he bought it from (Fall Line Motorsports) sells both. Epbrown bought his Dinan 3.91 from them. Both setups are a core swap. The Differential including core swap is 2400ish for the 3.91 and 2700ish for the 4.10. You might be able to find cheaper but this tuning shop is first rate and worth a bit of premium.

I've got Dunlop WinterSports on the stock wheels, but I'm hoping to drive it only on the days it's clear this winter. I bought a '99 328i on eBay on Monday and that will be taking most of the abuse going forward.

Success! The 4.10 is on the car and it should have been my first mod. No question about it, this is dollar for dollar the single best thing for our cars. I need for the weather to clear up and then I will post more impressions later. BTW, they were BMW motorsport polished gears.

My original plan was to do the diff the day I got the car - buying out of state scotched that idea. Glad you like it. Don't forget to do a few runs with the sport button on once the roads clear - the acceleration is intense!

There have been rumors of the 3.91 being dropped since December of last year, and in June or July it looks like BMW filled all existing supplier orders and dropped production. There are still some out there, but when that's gone it's gone.

EP- thanks again for directing me to Sam for the dif. He is a good guy and pretty easy to do business with. Also, saved me about 800.00 bucks. I will buy you a beer or two during a meet to make up for it.

I got my reservation today

I was gonna ship the car Friday, but I'll ship it Monday instead, since the weather is supposed to be shitty.

Glad everything worked out. I'll pass on the beers - never could stand the stuff. I'll take a ride though - curious to see how that extra 4% of gear ratio feels.
