Just Looking ? For a Coupe

Well as time reaches on I am pushing more and more towards a Z4 Coupe.
I have only seen a few Coupes on the road up here in the PNW.
I was just wondering if the Coupe was available in all years that the Vert is/was.

Does anyone know what the brake down of Coupe production is?
And with what motors/trans combos?

I will be buying a used one, and my cap is around 18-20k.

I am still on the fence between a 911 SC and the BMW Z4
The old 911 is fun to drive, but getting up there in age
The BMW is cutting edge style, and in years to come will be a hell of a fun car to hotrod.

The z4 Coupe was available the same model years as the M Roadster/Coupe, 2006-2008.

Here's a thread with production numbers: http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=595066

I don't know if that includes only north america for the z4 Coupes, but it was the best I could find.

Used 911s, especially the 964/993 are becoming very rare (read $$$ ) and were far more reliable than the water cooled variants. They are, however, very expensive to maintain, nearly any engine work requires the engine removed or partially removed. Engine rebuilds climb > $20k I think you'll find the Z4 has so much room with which to work on the engine, drivetrain, etc. and parts are very available with lots of DIYs not only here, but on other boards as well.

Yep the old 911sc is big $ to work on.
But its looking like I may have a hard time finding a Coupe.
I need to off one of my current rides before I start looking for a Z to buy.
Need to make room in the shop.

Anyone need/want a 63 Falcon Vert ?

I think that 17K coupes number is still high. From what I see on the roads, the Coupe is almost as rare as the M Coupe, so I would assume NA production was closer to 6-8K cars versus 17K. No data to support that assumption, besides always looking for coupes on the road since they came out. I have a hard time believing they sold 10 coupes for every M Coupe.

The link says that the 17k was worldwide production of coupes of which only 25% were "M's" and less that 2k of the M's came to North America.

Those look like more realistic numbers.

12K coupes as a worldwide number from the other thread still seems high.

I saw a considerable amount of 3.0 coupes in germany, I can see them being more popular in Europe

def some good info in this thread!

I am too possibly looking for an M-Coupe. Thought about the 911 route at first, but then thought about the repair bills and the fact that my current 914 is always pulling money from my wallet already lol.

Color combo im dying for would be Black with red interior, but would settle for black or grey interior as well. Any one ever seen a Black with red before?

Just wondering if they are even out there or were available as such.

They are most certainly available. Black/Red is a cool look, I looked at an M Roadster in that combo, but it wasn't up to my standards condition wise.

where are you getting these numbers from?

I would love to see color combo break downs if they are out there.

I am getting them from this excel file that posted here (its a link that says 'dreamingwell' in the first thread - i tried to copy it here but didnt work):
http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthre...roduction+data

With the excel sheet, you can find out an breakdown of color combo you want, and see how every vin was ordered from the factory, right down to the type of radio unit that was installed.... enjoy!
