Odd Noise

This is going to sound completely silly but perhaps someone can pinpoint where this sound is coming from. In the past week, I've noticed a foreign sound coming from the front of the car. It sounds like air whirling around or something. Now I know its not my turbo sucking in air [] but Ive never heard it before. Could I have some kind of leak from my intake thats creating this? Its only gotten alot cooler here this past week and maybe I just never noticed it?

tires possibly? my wifes 325 started making a whirring noise after a few months. dealer said it was the tires... we replaced them a while later... and the dealer was right

Tires? I doubt it. I check the pressure quite often and they only have 11-12k on them. But the way I drive- they may be bald sooner than later

It literally sounds like air getting sucked in but its really noticeable. It gets louder upon acceleration. IDK. Im making a service appointment but I wont be able to get the car there for a couple of weeks with work.

it wasn't the pressure... it was the tread wear. i doubted it too at first.

This is with the car moving forward? Does it seem to be speed dependent? When you hear the noise, do you still hear it if you let the engine rpm drop to idle while still at speed?

Yup sure is. If I let off the accelerator, it stops.

Something related to engine rpm. Maybe try listening with the hood up while someone works the gas?

check the intake hose for possible rip/hole... but your car is rather new for that to happen...

or secondary air injection hose could be loose, making the noise but it would make noise all the time...

That sux about your car Lana, I hope it's nothing serious. Thankfully you're still under warranty, no matter what it is. It also sux you having to work on a Sunday.

I have similar noise comming from my car too.
I'm bad at describing something like this in english but it sure sounds like air whirling around or something as you described.

I told the service advisor about this while my car was in and he was too aware of this foriegn noise but he said it was normal which i think isn't.

Sometimes it makes my car like 10+years old car. Let me know if you find out what that noise is.

hate to point out the obvious, but you sure it's just not the cooler temps you're noticing? i know my car definitely pulls alot stronger than it did 3 months ago and the noise is more noticeable. but i guess if you heard the same, you wouldn't be worried about it...
