Does anyone regret installing headers?
I've been very happy w/ my Stromung for the last few weeks. Huge improvement over stock and rasp free.
My headers are going in this week. After listening to the exhaust fest video, I realize I'm about to introduce quite a large helping of rasp to the car. Has anyone regretted headers or removed them after the fact? Is there any solution for dialing down rasp?

No, but I like rasp and pop. The headers sound is orgasmic. Not really, but you get the idea. You won't regret it for a second.
Loud mufflers you regret. |

Most move to a quieter set of mufflers instead of removing the headers.

Damn, sounds like an easy fix. Unfortunately, my secondary cat is the last line of defense for me passing smog.

I thought the Stromung was fairly conservative? If there's too much rasp with those, what are the next logical exhausts?

I have Diablos, and the only negative thing anyone has said is in regards to how loud they are. I haven't had anyone say anything about rasp. I have race cats too, which don't muffle the sound as much as the OEM section 1 cats.
I think you'll be fine with the stock section 1 and X-pipe. Remus or stock cans are the next step down in volume. You could also try and fit some small resonators somewhere in the exhaust.

I have the same hardware setup. Afe, header and strumong. There's a little bit of rasp if you can call that. Much louder and deeper now. It took almost droneless Strumong cans to have about 15% more drone but at a lower rpm around 2.1k.
Overall, the exhaust note is louder and has a tinny, almost supercharger whine like sound at lower rpm then 2k. However, anything higher then 3k, absolutely love it.. I like it and wouldn't change a thing, at times, I wish it was louder. However, sound is a very personal thing. |

Me, I hate them. The added power is horrible, like i needed to be faster anyway. The noise is terrible, i hate it that i can hear what the engine is now doing and the pops on shifts are horrible. I know when im shifting, car. You dont have to tell me. Oh and the complaints about how bad my exhaust setup is are just piling up
Seriously, you're gonna love the headers. I finished installing them at around 4 in the am when i did my install with a friend. We took it out for a shakedown run just to be sure everything was okay and both of us were laughing and smiling. With the RPIs equipped, this was the most grin inducing mod ive done to date. |
