Soft Top slam when closing

I know I've read about this somewhere on the site, but my searches didn't reveal anything. When I close the top it is slamming hard on the top of the windshield frame where it locks. Isn't there a tension cable that can be adjusted that sets the top down easy when it reaches the end of the closing procedure? Thanks for any information you have on this.

I think they're 2 elastic bands that are probably stretched or broken.
I have the same problem, and toyed with the idea of replacing them.
I decided it's cheaper and easier just to put my hand up and set the top down gently.

Thanks for the link! The slamming has caused part # 25 here:

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=54_0310

...... the plastic piece at the front of the top to split around one securing screw and the section that the motor cover snaps into has broken completely. I glued the broken piece back together last night and it's holding. I too am stopping the close procedure near the end and then easing it down to avoid any more damage. That above part is now $200 at ECS

I also just had my passenger airbag occupancy sensor go out...... irritating
